BIOGRAPHY
Cathy English has been weaving for over 20 years. For most of that time, she primarily worked on floor looms, creating numerous scarves, dishtowels, rugs, and wall hangings. Recently, her focus has shifted to learning tapestry weaving. She considers herself fortunate to be part of the Rhode Island Weaving Center, as it has broadened her weaving horizons and allowed her to develop new skills.
VISION
Cathy English’s piece features a woven base for structure, complemented by tapestry-like techniques that provide color and design. The inspiration for the work stems from the stunning beaches and ocean views that are abundant in Rhode Island.
