CAROLYN GOODRICH
ARTIST SPOTLIGHT | WEAVERS GUILD OF RHODE ISLAND
BIOGRAPHY
Carolyn Goodrich has been weaving for over 20 years, primarily using floor looms to create rugs, towels, scarves, shawls, and pillow covers. In recent years, she has developed a keen interest in tapestry weaving. Fortunately, she has had the opportunity to learn from an excellent tapestry teacher at the Rhode Island Weaving Center, which has broadened her weaving horizons and allowed her to develop new skills in this art form.
vision
This piece features a woven base using a canvas weave structure, enhanced with tapestry techniques to depict the island, lighthouse, and bridge. The artist’s vision was inspired by the view from the hotel windows, looking east toward Jamestown, capturing the essence of Rose Island, the lighthouse, and the Newport Bridge.
