BETH FITZPATRICK
ARTIST SPOTLIGHT | RHODE ISLAND SPINNERS GUILD

BIOGRAPHY
Beth Fitzpatrick welcomes viewers to Rhode Island as a dedicated fiber artist who creates woven pieces using hand-spun yarn. As a long-standing member of the Rhode Island Spinners Guild and a teacher at the Rhode Island Weaving Center, she frequently conducts demonstrations of spinning and weaving at various venues throughout New England.

VISION
Born and raised in Rhode Island, Beth Fitzpatrick has a deep understanding of the ocean, beach tides, and the sky. Her wall hangings portray stretches of beach where sand and water collide, capturing elements such as grasses, waves, footprints in the sand, and seagulls. She used wool from sheep raised in Rhode Island to spin the yarn and created the pieces in her home studio. The colors representing sand and water are the natural hues of the sheep, while the green for the grass and blue for the sky come from hand-dyed yarn. The beautiful beaches and coastline of her home serve as the inspiration for these wall hangings.
